The Camenae Ensemble is a network supporting an artistic vision that carries theatre art across the boundaries of gender, language, sexual orientation, and societal image.The artists of Camenae, who are women and men, hope to inspire art that is limitless in its scope of genre and solidly place women at the forefront of Chicago's theatre community.
Mission
Camenae Ensemble Theatre Company exists for the purpose of fostering education, production of performances, and the development of women theatre artists. Meeting these goals through the employment of women in the theatre industry, non-traditional casting of dramatic productions in an ethnically varied woman- supportive environment, development of women playwrights, community outreach, and mentoring of young women and girls in the diverse fields of theatrical study. By providing an artistic environment including but not limited to explore, create, and develop their theatrical skills, we strive to both meet the needs of the community and the theatre industry at large.History
