Dana Dardai
Really it all started when my parents
looked at me across the Thanksgiving turkey and said, "Dana, if you
like acting so much, maybe you should just do that." So I quit my
career as a music therapist and joined the circus. And by "circus" I
mean, the Player's Workshop class in improv and acting. It was a great
place to start. I learned so much about relationships and being
onstage. Shortly thereafter I help start up the Camenae which is where
it really really started and have been having a wonderfully magical
time since. We've been through a lot together, been in strange places
and were able to create.
I have had the opportunity to work with the New Millenum Theater Co.*,
I did a reading with Rasaka Theater Co., worked with the Neofuturists
on "Alice",** And recently I have worked with the Stockyard's Theater
Project in their Busting Out festival and Henry IV. I really am having
a great time. In school I did opera, and a couple summers ago I got to
do "Into the Woods". That was neat.
I am looking forward to continuing my dance classes at Joel Hall (if
you're looking for a easy-breezy place to take dance lessons, I highly
recommend them) and the 500 clown class.*** Also, the upcoming Dido
makes me feel all tingly inside.
Gosh golly gee, I just wanna perform.
Thanks for readin'
* who I fell in love with during their production of "Evil Dead" the
musical, and fainted when they wanted me to do their show "Boomstick"
in later years. That was a hoot.
**we called ourselves the emergency theater company... everyone was
fired at the end of the show. Including myself.
***random story: My main squeeze's sister bought his car a horn, like
the kind Harpo used to carry, because the car's horn is un-fixable. I
enjoy this to no end. When driving around I make a point to honk at
dogs and small children. I have a good feeling about clowning
around...
