Alexandra Bennett
Originally from Canada by way of
Australia, Alexandra Bennett discovered how much fun it was working
with the multitalented members of the Camenae Ensemble during their
production of Ophelia in 2003, and was delighted to join them
shortly afterwards. Locally, she has also performed with the Chicago
Repertory Theatre Company, Chase Park Theatre, and in staged readings
at Northern Illinois University. Her training includes work with
Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, Massachusetts, and at the Actors'
Centre and Actor's Gymnasium in Chicago. She has dramaturged
productions for Shakespeare and Company, the School of Theatre and
Dance at Northern Illinois University, and the Professional Theatre
Training Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and regularly
leads workshops on Shakespeare and verse drama. In her spare time from
the practice of theatre, she is an Associate Professor of English at
Northern Illinois University, where she teaches sixteenth- and
seventeenth-century English drama, modern American drama, and modern
British drama.
